# How to Add Transitions

> Add enter and exit animations to clip segments from the video panel in the editor.

## Overview

Reap has two kinds of motion for video segments:

* **Enter and exit animations** play on a single segment as it starts or ends. This guide covers this kind.
* **Transitions between clips** (like Fade, Slide, or Zoom) play across the cut where one video segment ends and the next begins. See [How to Add Transitions Between Clips](/help-center/how-to-add-transitions-between-clips).

## Step-By-Step Workflow

  <Step title="Open your clip in the editor">
    Open your clip in the editor by clicking the **Edit** button.

  <Step title="Select a segment on the timeline">
    On the timeline, click the segment where you want to add a transition.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the video panel">
    When you select a segment, the video panel opens on the right side of the editor.

  <Step title="Add enter and exit animations">
    In the video panel, choose an **Enter Animation** for when the segment starts and an **Exit Animation** for when the segment ends.

  <Step title="Repeat for other segments">
    Repeat the same process for each segment where you want transitions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview the clip">
    Preview the clip to see how the transitions appear between segments.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export">
    When you are satisfied, click **Export**.
